Updated June 15, 2020
Updated daily at 11 a.m., with data current as of 4 p.m. the previous day.

Data is for cases that were tested and returned positive. All data is preliminary and may change as cases are investigated. Many data points are collected during case interviews. Data presented below is for all cases, regardless of interview status. Data for cases pending interview may be listed as “unknown/missing.”

Not all suspected cases of COVID-19 are tested, so this data is not representative of the total number of people in Minnesota who have or had COVID-19. Cumulative numbers are since Jan. 20, 2020.

Daily Update:

Because all data is preliminary, the change in number of cumulative positive cases and deaths from one day to the next may not equal the newly reported cases or deaths.

More about testing data

  • As of 6/5, tests are reported per test instead of per person to account for changes in testing capacity and for individuals who are tested more than once over the course of the pandemic.
  • Due to civil unrest in St. Paul and surrounding areas, the MDH Public Health Lab was closed from 5/30 – 6/1. COVID-19 specimens were not accepted and no tests were run during this time. When possible, samples were re-routed to partner laboratories.
  • Results from 4/29 and 6/3 included a backlog of tests loaded into our system. Previously we were not updating tests reported for past dates; going forward we will be updating that historical data.

Police Killing Of Rayshard Brooks In Atlanta Officially Ruled A Homicide

tmpbad48a1a-9e1e-44ef-8871-23a80d43bb51-jpg

On Sunday, authorities in Georgia ruled that the fatal police shooting of Rayshard Brooks was a homicide. Brooks, 27, died after he was shot twice in the back on Friday, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office said in a statement. Brooks was shot after a confrontation with two Atlanta police officers in the parking lot of a Wendy’s fast food restaurant.

Police had been summoned there on a report of a man sleeping in his car in the drive-through. Brooks struggled with the officers after they administered a field sobriety test and tried to take him into custody, and surveillance video appears to show Brooks running away from the officers with a stun gun that he’d taken from one of them While running, Brooks appeared to turn around and point the weapon at police. but according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, “At that point, the Atlanta officer reaches down and retrieves his weapon from his holster, discharges it, strikes Mr. Brooks there on the parking lot, and he goes down.”

Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields resigned over the shooting, saying in a statement that “it is time for the city to move forward and build trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve.” Garrett Rolfe, the officer who shot Brooks, was fired; and a second officer, Devin Brosnan, was placed on administrative duty.

California Leaders Request Probe Into Black Man’s Hanging Death

tmpe418c641-df5e-4c6c-8671-cc1cef9a2a5a-jpg

The apparent hanging death of a black man in the Los Angeles area is being investigated, after demands among residents and celebrities about the initial finding of suicide had been brought into question. The body of 24-year-old Robert Fuller was found near Palmdale City Hall Wednesday afternoon by a passerby, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

“He was hanging from a tree,” said police during a press conference last week.  “Personnel from the adjacent fire station responded and determined that he had passed. Although the investigation is ongoing, it appears that Mr. Fuller has tragically died by suicide.” Someone in the audience said, “That’s a lie. That’s a lie.”  By Saturday, demonstrators gathered outside City Hall to demand a thorough investigation. Protesters gathered at the tree where Fuller’s body was found, and members of Fuller’s family and a sheriff’s investigator on the case said there was no indication he left a suicide note.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger said she has asked California Attorney General Xavier Becerra to conduct an independent investigation. The county coroner’s office said in its own statement that a definitive cause of death has been deferred pending further investigation. Questions about Fuller’s death led demonstrators to gather Friday outside City Hall, and the social media hashtag #JusticeForRobertFuller was being used to bring attention to the case.  Kim Kardashian West urged her Twitter followers to endorse a Change.org petition calling for “a thorough and proper investigation.”

‘Teen Mom 2′ Star Jenelle Evans’ Husband, David Eason, Arrested On Assault With A Deadly Weapon Charges

tmp9295c6ac-ee47-428c-a6ae-e1c4163413b8-jpg

Former Teen Mom 2 star David Eason, the husband of Jenelle Evans, was arrested over the weekend for assault with a deadly weapon and sending threats. Eason was booked at Columbus County Detention Center and was released on an unsecured bond. His next court hearing is set for July 6. Evans said she planned to file a restraining order against Eason. Eason was arrested after a fight allegedly broke out between himself and Evans’ friends, and Eason allegedly hit one of the men with a pistol, causing injuries to his back and neck. Evans is now staying at a relative’s home

Evans also shared on her Facebook page that she was doing well, and planned to take another social media hiatus. “I just want to let the public, tabloids, and my fans know that IM OK, IM SAFE AND SO ARE THE KIDS! I’m going to take a few days out to myself to gather my thoughts and focus on what’s going on so I won’t be on social media much,” she wrote. “I love you all for the support that you all have shown me and I’ll be stronger and better than ever soon!”

Back in October 2019, Evans said she was going to file for divorce from Eason and moved from North Carolina to the Nashville area with her children. However, Eason revealed the couple was back together in March. The couple has been married since 2017 and are parents to 3-year-old daughter Ensley. She also has two children from previous relationships, Kaiser Griffith, 5, and Jace Evans, 10.

OX CART DAYS FESTIVAL POSTPONED TO 2021, SOME EVENTS WILL STILL BE HELD

ox-cart-days-2020-logo-2

The 2020 Crookston Ox Cart Days festival has unfortunately been postponed until August 2021 due to a number of reasons, but the committee would like the community to know that the third week of August 2020 will still be special. Event organizers for the Miss Crookston Scholarship Pageant, Miss Tootsie Pageant, Pickleball Tournament, Fire/Police Pancake Breakfast, Crookston’s Treasures Hunt, Medallion Hunt, and other separate events are still moving forward.

The Ox Cart Days committee will continue to support those events with marketing and resources even without the previously-planned festival that included circus-themed street entertainment, concerts with bands “Snake Oil”, “Island Time” and “Connemara Patch,” and a baja race which are scheduled to return next year.
“As you know we held off as long as we could because we have worked really hard to build up this festival the last few years,” explained Ox Cart Days festival chair Jess Bengtson. “We care about the safety of our community and were closely following state and CDC guidelines for months due to the pandemic.”
“No worries as we will be back bigger and better than ever next year, August 16-22, 2021, and will invite all of our entertainers to give Crookston a festival it won’t forget!” she added. “We also want to thank our sponsors for sticking with us and being the reason we get to have such a wonderful festival.”
What will be happening the third week of August 2020 in Crookston? Community organizers have tentatively-scheduled events for Monday through Saturday with the majority happening on weekdays.
The tentative schedule includes:

• Crookston’s Treasures Hunt on KROX Radio
• Virtual Scavenger Hunt
• Medallion Hunt
• Taste of Crookston (at participating businesses)
• Best Lemonade Stand Contest (for kids)
• Food Truck Fest
• Cookout
• Wild Wednesday Trivia (Drafts)
• Vendor/Retail Shop Stroll
• 2020 Shopping Promo
• Giveaways
• Crookston Farmers Market
• Corn Hole Tournament (Drafts)
• Driveway BBQ and Dance Party
• Fireworks in honor of 2020
• Fire and Police Drive-Up Pancake Breakfast
• Miss Crookston Scholarship Pageant
• Miss Tootsie Pageant
• Pickleball Tournament

Find information for the community’s third week in August events at www.crookstonoxcartdays.com, on the Crookston Ox Cart Days Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, and with local media.
