Showtime has released the first official teaser for the series’ forthcoming revival of the series Dexter.  The network announced it would be reviving Dexter last October as a 10-episode limited series bring back original star Michael C. Hall and showrunner Clyde Phillips.

On Thursday, Showtime shared a 10-second long clip on social media.  The first look sees an ax resting in a tree stump as a fire burns in the background, while a voice-over from Hall’s Dexter Morgan, stating, “There really is nothing like getting back to nature. My nature.”

The original series premiered in 2006 and ran for eight seasons before ending in 2013. In the series finale, Dexter’s sister, Debra (Jennifer Carpenter), had died, and just before the credits, Dexter was seen working as a lumberjack in an unknown location.

The Dexter revival was set to begin production in early 2021 “with a tentative premiere date in the fall of 2021.” Further details, including casting and plot information, have not yet been revealed.

CROOKSTON EYE CLINIC’S DR. KARI MILLER ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

kari-miller

The Crookston Eye Clinic has announced the retirement of the business founder, Dr. Kari Miller, Optometrist.

Dr. Miller began at the Crookston Eye Clinic in August 1991, and proceeded to offer high quality, compassionate, full-scope primary eye care for 30 years to Crookston and the surrounding region.

Dr. Angie Smith and Dr. Matt Forgit are sincerely grateful for the opportunity to not only have had Dr. Miller as a colleague, but as a mentor early on in their careers. She led by example through her faith and a calm presence as she steered a private eye care practice through many changes over the years. Aside from her profession and raising a family, she donated her time by serving on the board of directors and advisory committees of a number of organizations.

Dr. Miller is extremely grateful for her years of optometric practice in the Crookston community. “It has been an honor and privilege to provide eye care while serving the many, many wonderful people here,” says Dr. Miller. She has appreciated the outstanding medical providers with whom she has worked and was blessed to work with exceptional ophthalmologists who have provided excellent surgical options for her patients right here in Crookston throughout her practice. Her heart is full of gratitude, first of all, to God, then to her family, dear friends and acquaintances, and, last but not least, to Dr. Forgit and Dr. Smith and the staff of the Crookston Eye Clinic with whom she has worked (past and present). It has been a rich and meaningful journey – made so because of the people along the way!

The staff at the Crookston Eye Clinic wish Dr. Miller and her family (which will include a new grandson come August) the absolute best on their future adventures!

crookston-gun-club

The Crookston Gun Club will hold an open house on Sunday, May 2 from Noon to 6:00 p.m. and the public is invited to come out and see the club.

The club wants people to know they are open and they will be serving lunch at 4:30 p.m.  “Everyone is welcome to come out,” said Club Treasurer Cindy Gjerswald. “We have everything from trap shooting, pistol shooting, bow and arrow, and rifle.  We just want to let people know that the gun club is now open and we would like to have people come out and visit.”

It is an important year to renew your membership. “One thing that we are going to be doing this year, we are going to be changing the lock on the gate,” said Club President Steve Videen. “If you haven’t paid your membership, your key probably isn’t going to work.  If you come to the open house, we will swap keys with you once your membership is paid.  We would like the old keys back.”

The public is encouraged to attend the open house and bring their firearms. “We want everybody to bring out their firearm and we have some ammo we can sell if they don’t have any ammo.  We don’t have a lot of pistol or rifle ammo, but we do have shotgun shells that we sell out there,” said Gjerswald. “We want everybody to realize how nice of a facility we have in the Crookston area. We rent out our building graduation receptions, we have had different companies and have a fun night and shoot.  We have grills out there so you can grill out burgers, we have a kitchen area.  The facility is available for rent and the price is $75.”

The Crookston Gun Club is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00 p.m. to dusk.  They also host a trap shooting league. “We are going to get the league starting soon.  We need them to get a team of six people together,” said Videen. “The registration is $50 per team.  You can buy a punch card for an adult for $80 and that buys 13 rounds.  An individual round is $7.  The high school and college kids can get punch cards for $50.”

You can learn more about the Crookston Gun Club by contacting Steve Videen at 218-289-2115.  The open house is Sunday, May 3 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. with lunch served at 4:30 p.m.

RIVERVIEW HEALTH ANNOUNCES THEY ARE RELAXING COVID-19 VISITOR RESTRICTIONS

riverview-health-29

As COVID-19 restrictions ease around the state, RiverView Health has determined it is time to allow additional visitors with each patient for added support in the hospital, outpatient and clinic settings.

“We are excited to announce as of April 29 we are easing our restrictions here at RiverView.  Not only in the hospital portion but also in our outpatient settings and our clinic settings,” said Annie Waldal, RiverView Health’s Director of the Emergency Department and Inpatient Unit. “We are now allowing for two visitors to accompany patients to their appointments or to come visit their loved ones in the hospital.  Two visitors can rotate, so we are allowing it to be different visitors.  It can be different grandchildren, different aunts and uncles etc.  We are very excited to once again allow our patients to have that family member present in these critical times in their life.”

Visitor restrictions for obstetrics (OB) patients and end-of-life situations will be relaxed. “Specifically to our OB patients, we are very pleased to announce that we are allowing siblings of the new arrival to visit their new baby so that is really exciting.  I think the nurses and physicians are as excited to start seeing the siblings come back and experience such a beautiful part of their lives,” said Waldal. “End-of-life patients, we will create an individualized visitation plan.  We won’t hold to just the two visitors.  We will work along the physician and care team to make sure that everybody is supported during a very difficult time.”

The revised visitor policy includes the following:

Hospital
-Visiting hours are 8 am to 8 pm daily.
– Each patient is allowed up to two visitors or support persons at a time. Visitors may rotate.
-Obstetrics (OB) patient visitors can include the newborn’s immediate family (parents and siblings).
-Visitor restrictions for patients in isolation for COVID-19 remain the same with no visitors due to potential exposure risk.
– For patients at end-of-life, an individualized visitation plan will be made in coordination with the care team.

Clinic Visits and Outpatient Appointments
-Each patient is allowed up to two visitors.

Screening and Masking
Visitors will be screened following current guidelines and must wear a mask at all times when in the facility. Visitors will be provided a surgical mask to wear (preferred), or may wear their own cloth mask.

If you have questions regarding the new policy, please call (218) 281-9200.

Between now and the start date, the FCC encourages partners and participating providers to conduct outreach efforts so that every eligible household knows about the program and how to sign up. The Commission will be providing a variety of materials for partners to use in their efforts to increase awareness about the program. During this time, the FCC and its program administrator, USAC, will continue to ensure that appropriate privacy and security safeguards are in place.
