RED LAKE COUNTY’S GERALD MELIN BREAKS SCHOOL HIGH JUMP RECORD
Red Lake County Rebel Boys Track and Field’s Gerald Melin broke the school record in the high jump with a jump of 6’0 on Tuesday at the Bagley Track and Field meet. The jump of 6’0 broke the previous record of 5’10 set by Ryan Melby in 1993.
“We are so proud of Gerald Melin for breaking our RLC Rebels High Jump record with a jump of 6’0″. Gerald is a natural athlete. He puts in his time to get better each day and each season. He is a competitive athlete with high goals in mind. We saw as a young athlete he had the potential in being a strong high jumper,” said Rebel Coach Randy Huie. “Not having a season last year made it interesting this season to see how our athletes would perform. He has accelerated from where he left off as an 8th grader. Now as a Sophomore the sky’s the limit for this young man. Looking forward to great things for the rest of this season and into the next two years.”
