Robert “Bob” Pinske- Obituary

robert-bob-pinske

Robert “Bob” Pinske, age 85, of Ulen, MN, formerly Gary, MN, died on Wednesday, March 18 at Viking Manor Nursing Home.

Robert Pinske was born December 8, 1934, to Otto and Elsie (Lietzau) Pinske on their family farm in Wild Rice Township, Gary, MN.  He was baptized and confirmed his faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Strand Township.  As a young boy, Robert attended country school in Wild Wood District 28 and later graduated from Twin Valley Highschool in 1952.  Shortly after graduation, Robert enlisted in the United States Army where he became a large equipment mechanic.  After his honorable discharge, Robert came home and was the third generation to take over the Oak Grove family farm. On March 4, 1961, Robert was united in marriage to Judy Knutson at Calvary Lutheran Church in Ulen.  They were later blessed with three children, Julie, Shelly, and Alan.  Working together every day, they made their home on the farm raising cattle and crops.

Robert was known to be a very hard worker, even though he would say that he has never worked a day in his life. His enjoyment of the outdoors made farming the perfect job for him.  Being a mechanic was also a lifelong passion.  He would often be found tinkering on a piece of equipment and making it look new again in a few short months. He was always there to help a family member, friend, or neighbor when needed.  Robert enjoyed fishing in Canada, spearing northern pike in the winter, and deer hunting in the fall.  Over the years, he also spent a lot of time cutting logs sawing lumber and making firewood. One of his favorite memories was his dream vacation for him and his family on an Alaskan cruise in 2016. He loved talking about this trip to anyone who would listen.  Robert was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Twin Valley and he also spent several years serving on the church council.  In October of 2019, they moved to Northern Lights Assisted Living in Ulen and recently entered the nursing home.  Robert will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Robert is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judy; his three children: Julie (Jeff) Larghe of Perham, MN Shelly (Ernie) Moe of Ghent, MN, and Alan (Darci) Pinske of Twin Valley, MN, and; eight grandchildren, Bobbie Jo (Todd) Berndt, Justin (Stefany) Moe, Jacob (fiancé, Dylynn) Moe, Robert Moe, Ashley Pinske, Jasmyne Nadgwick, Jayden Nadgwick, and Drew Pinske; five great-grandchildren, Dylan Berndt, McKane Berndt, Jaylen Garrett, Harrison, and Olivia Moe; one brother, Roy (Helen) Pinske and one sister, Bernice Grossman. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Elsie; one sister, Betty; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

A time of gathering will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021, beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the Memorial Service beginning at 3:00 p.m. all at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Twin Valley.

Arrangements entrusted to Anderson Family Funeral Home in Twin Valley.

Orris Melvin Moen, age 72, of Lake Park, MN, passed away while in Mesa, AZ, on January 15, 2021.  He was in the presence of his brother-in-law and his wife; Barry and Kay Malme in his final fight with a number of health problems.

On the 26th day of September 1948, the first of five children, Orris, was born to Clarence and Evelyn (Dale) Moen in Spokane, WA.  As an infant, the family moved to Eldred, MN.  Orris started school in Climax, MN, and completed his first grade through high school graduation in Fisher, MN.  Thus began the infamous “Fisher Class of ’66” with all class members holding class reunions whenever they felt like it.  Future Class of ’66 gatherings will now hold Orris in memory as noted by the empty chair and now will be a part of some good stories.

Orris was baptized in the Christian faith and affirmed his belief of Jesus his Savior by Pastor Clayton C. Engan of the Fisher Lutheran Church.

In 1968, Orris was united in marriage to Gayle Stene, Shelly, MN.  To this union, four children were born:  Gwendolyn, Marshall, Garlyn, and Geralyn (Ger).  Gayle, a teacher, encouraged Orris to attend the U of M, Crookston, where he earned an Associate Degree in 1971.  In the early years of their marriage and in honor of his country; Orris served in the Army National Guard.

Many aspects of the area agricultural community were served by Orris; a local farmhand, farmer, factory employee at Jiffy Fry (71-74) and American Crystal (74-99). While in Mesa, AZ, he worked as a Trail Blazer and finally in Fargo, ND, at Aggregate Industries (04-13).

In 2002, Orris married Barb Malme–Tronnes of Shelly MN.  Two step-sons, Tyler Tronnes and Matt Tronnes joined his family.  Orris and Barb lived in Minnesota/ North Dakota and Arizona until Barb’s death in 2013.

Blessed by the promise of eternal life, Orris will joyfully be welcomed by his Savior Jesus Christ and his deceased family members:   Grandparents—Otto and Agnes (Johnson) Dale, Melvin and Julia (Myran) Moen, parents—Clarence and Evelyn (Dale) Moen, infant son Marshall, and wife Barb.

Survivors of Orris are Gayle, the mother of his children:  Gwendolyn (Shelly, MN), Garlyn (Mandi) with children Sadie and Harper (Chaska, MN); Ger (Melanie) with children Avianna and Holden (Mandan, ND), step-sons Tyler (Tess) Tronnes (Hudson, WI) and his children Adam and Abby, and Matt Tronnes (Lake Park, MN), sisters, Linda (Dan) Romuld (Grand Forks, ND), Fern (Allen) Melbye (Thief River Falls, MN), brothers, Myran (Lori) Moen (Shelly, MN), and Kevin Moen (Nielsville, MN), brother-in-law Barry (Kay) Malme (Fargo, ND). Family from his father’s generation, honorably include Aunt Ruth Moen and Cousin Clarice Aanden. Orris enjoyed the company and travel partner with his special nephew, Konner Moen. Other nieces and nephews who survive Uncle Orris include Christopher, Cassandra, Kyle, Karly, Darla, and Garen, and of course the greats; Roman, Blake, and Aryanna.

3 Dead in shooting at Miami Dade, Florida graduation party

shutterstock_1238728879-jpg

Three people are dead and at least six others injured following a shooting at a Florida graduation party on Sunday.  Miami-Dade police Director Freddie Ramirez told news outlets that the party at a strip mall lounge was ending when one or more vehicles “pulled up and began to fire into the crowd.” The identities of those killed and wounded were not immediately released Sunday. The shooting happened about 2 a.m. in the suburb of Kendall. Two of those who died were in one of the cars police believe was involved in the shooting. The vehicle sped off and crashed into a nearby wall. Authorities found at least one gun in the car, but its exact connection to the shooting was unclear.

Sunday’s shooting follows a rise in crime in the Miami area that saw three people killed and 20 wounded in a still-unsolved mass shooting at a banquet hall over the Memorial Dad weekend.  Another shooting on May 28 in the Wynwood area killed one person and injured six others.
