MINNESOTA REPORTS 2,857 NEW COVID CASES AND 25 DEATHS, POLK COUNTY HAS 47 NEW CASES

2labgraph-321

The Minnesota Department of Health released the COVID-19 numbers for today and the state reported 2,857 cases with 25 deaths. 1 death was reported in northwest Minnesota, in Marshall County. As part of the data update, the Minnesota Department of Health is also adding the number of COVID-19 reinfections to the total shown under the Minnesota Case Overview of the Situation Update webpage. As of Nov. 1, Minnesota has had 8,184 instances of reinfections since the start of the pandemic. Of that total number, 587 were already included in the state’s case total as separate cases due to discrepancies in matching people with multiple tests. Including the remaining 7,597 reinfections in the case overview pushes today’s case figure to 10,454 — 7,597 are the reinfections being added and 2,857 are new cases.

Polk County reported 47 new cases with sixteen probable, Roseau County had 37, Pennington County had 18 with four probable, Norman County had 12 with one probable, Mahnomen County had 11 with four probable, Marshall County had 10 with two probable, and Red Lake County had 8 with one probable.

All the information is below –

Updated November 1, 2021
Updated weekdays at 11 a.m., with data current as of 4 a.m. the previous business day.

Data is for cases that were tested and returned positive. All data is preliminary and may change as cases are investigated. Many data points are collected during case interviews. Data presented below is for all cases, regardless of interview status. Data for cases pending interview may be listed as “unknown/missing.”

Positive PCR test results are considered confirmed cases. Positive antigen test results are considered probable cases. All probable cases get the same public health follow up and recommendations as cases confirmed by PCR tests.

Daily Update:

Because all data is preliminary, the change in number of cumulative positive cases and deaths from one day to the next may not equal the newly reported cases or deaths.

Note: Today we are adding the number of COVID-19 reinfections that have occurred throughout the pandemic to our case counts, which is why the newly reported cases number is much higher. Refer to Media Advisory: Reinfection cases added to COVID-19 web data today for more information.

Two gunmen opened fire at a house party in Joliet, Illinois (southwest of Chicago) killing two people and injuring more than a dozen. The Will County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that the shooting occurred early Sunday morning at an event attended by an estimated 200 people, when gunfire erupted near a DJ booth in the backyard.

According to witnesses, one of the men — described as a Hispanic male wearing a red hoodie — fired from an elevated porch overlooking the crowd. The second shooter was described as a light-skinned man wearing a ski mask and yellow hoodie. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, and remain unidentified. Four others were taken to local hospitals; additional details about the incident were not immediately available.

The suspects remain at large as of press time.

Suspect arrested after shooting at Halloween party in Texas leaves 1 dead, 9 injured

shutterstock_1280562172

Police in Texarkana, Texas confirmed that a suspect was arrested Sunday in a shooting that left one person dead and nine more wounded at a Halloween party in eastern Texas. Texarkana is located on the Texas-Arkansas border, about 180 miles (290 kilometers) east of Dallas.

Police said the suspected shooter, Keuntae McElroy, 21, of Texarkana, Arkansas, turned himself in late Sunday morning, and was booked on one count of felony aggravated assault. Additional charges are expected to be filed on Monday.

Around 200 people were at the party at an event center late Saturday when gunfire erupted. Police said that 10 people who were shot went to two hospitals for treatment, either by ambulance, police unit or private vehicle. A 20-year-old man was pronounced dead at a hospital. His name has not yet been released. Police said the injuries of the other nine didn’t appear to be life-threatening.

Zayn Malik pleads no contest to charges of harassment against ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid and her mother Yolanda

shutterstock_416880928

Singer Zayn Malik pleaded no contest to charges of harassment against his ex-girlfriend, model Gigi Hadid, and her mother, Yolanda Hadid.  Earlier this week it was reported that Gigi Hadid, 26, and Malik, 28, had ended their on-again-off-again relationship.

Citing legal documents, the charges stem from a Sept. 29 incident at the couple’s Pennsylvania home where he allegedly shoved Yolanda Hadid into a dresser and screamed profanity at her before trying to fight a security guard.  Malik, a former member of One Direction, took to Twitter to deny allegations he struck Yolanda Hadid. He said he was working toward “a safe and private space” for Khai, the 13-month-old daughter he shares with Gigi. Malik said in the statement: “I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared and more importantly I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves.”

Malik entered the no contest plea on Wednesday, meaning Malik does not admit guilt but will allow the charges to stick. He’s agreed to serve 360 days of probation in addition to completing anger management and domestic violence programs. A representative for Gigi Hadid said in a statement “Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time.”
