THE CROOKSTON CIVIC MUSIC LEAGUE WELCOMES VERITAS ON THURSDAY

veritas-1-630x420-1

Another highlight of the Crookston Civic Music League’s
Entertainment Series is coming up on Thursday May 5, at the
Crookston High School Auditorium at 7:00 p.m.

Veritas is a male vocal quintet with three tenors, one baritone, and
one bass.  Together since 2012, this group’s members have backgrounds
in opera, musical theater, rock, gospel, and pop to create the “wall
of sound” for which they have become known.  They will vary the
performance with a cappella, piano accompaniment, and some orchestral
tracks.

The combination of these talents will be showcased by a program
called Decades, including a few beloved hymns and patriotic standards
intermingled with hits from the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and
today.  These five strong voices blend beautifully to present such
favorites as Stardust, Over the Rainbow, Phantom of the Opera, as
well as recognizable favorites from Simon and Garfunkel to the band
Chicago.  It is a varied and marvelous program.

Veritas offers highly artistic arrangements sure to capture the
hearts of every listener.  Their five-part harmony is rich, smooth,
and lush.  And their way with the audience is smooth and easy.

The Veritas concert is the final event offered during the 2021-2022
season.  Information about the 2022-2023 season will be available at
the concert.

Concert admission is by season ticket only.  For ticket information

GOVERNOR WALZ AND THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL AUTHORIZE EXTENSION OF PEACETIME EMERGENCY AND MINNESOTA NATIONAL GUARD SUPPORT FOR EMERGENCY FLOOD OPERATIONS IN NORTHWEST MINNESOTA

minnesota-seal-e1584661193709-6

As communities in northwestern Minnesota continue to recover from severe spring storms, Governor Tim Walz and the Minnesota Executive Council today extended the peacetime emergency and Minnesota National Guard assistance for emergency flood operations authorized in Emergency Executive Order 22-08. At an emergency meeting of the Minnesota Executive Council, which comprises the Governor, Secretary of State Steve Simon, Auditor Julie Blaha, and Attorney General Keith Ellison, the Council voted unanimously to extend this important relief for Minnesotans.

“Minnesotans have always stepped up to support their neighbors in times of trouble,” said Governor Walz. “I am grateful to the Minnesota National Guard for their commitment to ensuring that our communities impacted by severe storms continue to receive the support they need to stay safe and recover.”

Beginning on April 23, 2022, a severe spring storm system with very heavy rains and strong winds caused flash flooding across northwestern Minnesota. Flooding on the Red Lake River at Crookston closed local roads and threatened vital facilities, including a fire station and a housing development. Governor Walz signed Emergency Executive Order 22-08, declaring a peacetime emergency and authorizing the Minnesota National Guard to provide support for emergency flood operations, including personnel, equipment, and resources.

Several counties have declared local emergencies and activated their emergency operations plans. The Polk County sheriff and emergency manager have requested that the Minnesota National Guard assist with emergency sandbagging, patrol of flood protection systems, and potential evacuation operations.
