pirate-flag249153

The Crookston Pirate Boy’s Golfers are competing the next two days in the Otter Invite held at Pebble Lake Golf Course in Fergus Falls. GARRETT FISCHER
Fischer is continuing to play better and better and had another solid round. He started his front nine with five straight pars before a bogey at the 370-yard par 4 sixth hole. On the back nine he came out firing with a par followed by a birdie on the 218-yard par 3 eleventh hole. After another par he ran into trouble on the 398-yard par 4 thirteenth hole with a double bogey but bounced back and got back-to-back pars after that. He finished the back nine with three bogeys carding a 39 and finishing his round with a seven over par 79 which is good for 7th place after day one.

EVAN SHOCKMAN
Evan Shockman was next in line for the Pirates as the freshman put together a 91 on the day. Shockman had a par on the 403-yard par 4 fourth hole on the front nine to go along with six bogeys and two double bogeys for a 47. After the turn Shockman would par four of the first five holes before finishing his round with two bogeys, a double bogey, and a triple bogey. That gave Shockman a 44 on the back nine as he finished nineteen over par with a score of 91.

HUNTER NICHOLAS
Sophomore Hunter Nicholas played well on day one carding a 93. Nicholas would par the 401-yard par 4 first hole before two bogeys and two double bogeys. Nicholas then would par hole six and birdie the par 5 508-yard seventh hole. He ended the front nine with two double bogeys to shoot a nine over par 46. On the back nine Nicholas carded two pars to go along with four bogeys, a double bogey, and two dreaded triple bogeys. The 47 on the back nine paired with the 46 on the front gave him a 93 on the day.

CONNOR MARUSKA
Connor Maruska’s 98 was the last score the Pirates would use toward their team’s total. Maruska had a tough time staying away from big numbers in the round. The freshman had five pars in the round but carded multiple quadruple bogeys, a couple of triple bogeys, and a couple of double bogeys as well. Maruska shot 51 on the front nine and 47 on the back nine.

The other two Pirates competing in the Varsity meet for Crookston are juniors Ashton Shockman and Jackson Dauksavage. Shockman shot a 100 in the round while Dauksavage came back to the clubhouse with a 117.
