Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas reach temporary child custody agreement

shutterstock_13350166855776

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have reached a custody agreement regarding their daughters, Willa, 3, and Delphine, 1, for the rest of 2023. The decision comes after the former couple had a four-day mediation in New York City, which was their first court hearing. After news broke of the temporary custody agreement, Jonas and Turner said in a joint statement: “After a productive and successful mediation, we have agreed that the children will spend time equally in loving homes in both the U.S. and the UK. We look forward to being great coparents.”

Court documents read: “The parties have been engaged in productive mediation from October 4-7, 2023. Due to the progress made at mediation, the parties believe that an amicable resolution on all issues between them is forthcoming. For that reason, the parties jointly request that the Court enter the proposed order staying this proceeding and vacating all deadlines and trial dates submitted herewith.” The court ruled that Jonas, 34, and Turner, 27, will each get two weeks with their children until January 2024, and that during their time with their daughters each parent will be able to travel anywhere in the U.S. or U.K. with their children. Turner and Jonas will alternate weeks with their children between October and December, and their daughters will be with their father on Thanksgiving and their mother on Christmas. On Jan. 2, 2024, the estranged couple have a trial to resolve the the custody of their children and come to a more permanent solution.

This temporary custody agreement comes after Jonas filed for divorce on Sept. 5. Turner then filed a lawsuit against Jonas last month accusing him of “wrongful retention” of their two children – alleging that he was preventing their children (who are citizens in both the U.S. and U.K.) from returning to “their habitual residence of England” by withholding their passports. Turner said the family relocated to England in April and planned to move into their new home there, which they signed a contract to purchase in July, upon its completion in December.

Days after filing her lawsuit, Turner and Jonas agreed to an Interim Consent Order prohibiting the removal of the children from New York pending further order of the court. Turner is currently staying with their daughters in NYC, while Jonas is on tour with The Jonas Brothers.

RYDELL DONATES TO RIVERVIEW HEALTHS REHAB DEPARTMENT

rydell-cars848460

The folks at Rydell Cars don’t just put smiles on the faces of customers driving shiny vehicles off their lot; soon, smiles will appear on the faces of RiverView Health pediatric patients enjoying new fun, therapeutic activities thanks to a generous donation from the Grand Forks company.

In honor of National Children’s Day, June 11, 2023, the Riverview Rehab Services Team shared a social media video requesting help fulfilling its Amazon Wish List. After years of use in speech, occupational, and physical therapy sessions, many toys, games, and other items used to make therapy fun and functional looked ragged and overused.

A Rydell employee saw the post, and the rest, as they say, is history.

“The goal of the Pediatric Therapy Wish List was to replace and update the well-loved toys and games in the pediatric therapy department to increase pediatric engagement, excitement, and development,” shared Caitlyn Michno, director of Rehab Services. “The sponsorship provided by Rydell was beyond what we imagined and will allow us to update a large number of items at our Crookston, East Grand Forks, Red Lake Falls, and Fertile clinics. “We would like to thank Rydell sincerely. Our pediatric patients light up when we have a new therapy tool; we cannot wait to see their excitement when we receive our new items!’”

NORTHWEST MN ARTS COUNCIL ANNOUNCES FIGURES OF GHOSTS AND DREAMS-THE ART WORK OF STEPHANIE OLSON

so1583959

The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council (NWMAC) is pleased to announce the opening of Figures of Ghosts & Dreams: The Artwork of Stephanie Olson. The exhibit is open through Wednesday, November 29, at the NWMAC Gallery at Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls.

Stephanie Olson is a public-school English teacher in Goodridge and lives with her husband and kids in rural Thief River Falls. She holds a Writing MFA degree from Hamline University. Her visual artwork has appeared in several group shows, including past exhibits with the Northwest Minnesota Arts Council, two This Week Only exhibits at the North Dakota Museum of Art, and a group show at the Vine Arts Center in Minneapolis.

Figures of Ghosts and Dreams includes 42 pieces of watercolor on paper, Indian ink on paper, and acrylic on wood, cork, and canvas. Stephanie explained, “This exhibit reflects the art that comes to me. When I sit down with an idea or plan, my art fails almost every time. But when I sit down with no intention, it’s like a door is left open. Initially, my art was more abstract: lines, color, depth. Now, I have these figures. Sometimes, they seem peaceful, as if visiting from a dream. Sometimes, they remind me of loved ones who have passed on, like visiting ghosts. There are undeniable motifs that I can’t escape: houses, snakes, dogs, cats, women. I must let it all come as it is, like the weather. I wouldn’t say it’s like the notion of a muse taking over, not at all. It’s more like a house filling up with guests. I’m never sure how long they’ll stay, but I find this when I manage to steal time to sit down and paint. It’s always a surprise. Try it! You never know who might show up, who you might meet.”

An artist reception at the gallery will be held at Northland Community and Technical College on Wednesday, October 18, from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join us for this free event with live music and refreshments. Stephanie will be live painting during the reception. See Stephanie creating art while viewing her large group of expressive pieces! Stephanie’s art is available for purchase.

The NWMAC Gallery is at Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls. The gallery hours are Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and at other times when events are held at the college. Enter through Door B, which is right next to the gallery. Visitor parking is free.

For more information about this exhibit, visit or for other details, look to our website at www.NWArtsCouncil.org; if you are an artist interested in exhibiting a body of work with NWMAC, please contact Trey Everett at (218) 745-8886 or email NWArtsCouncil@gmail.com.
