“This Us Us” star Milo Ventimiglia is married, with his rep confirming that the actor and model Jarah Mariano wed earlier this year.

According to US Weekly, Ventimiglia, 46, and Mariano, 38, secretly tied the knot in a private wedding ceremony alongside friends and family. The couple were first linked in 2022 after they appeared in a photo together on a friend’s Instagram Stories; however, they never publicly confirmed their relationship or spoke about their time together.

According to her Instagram, Mariano was born in Hawaii and grew up in California. She moved to New York City as a teenager and was based there for 15 years. She is the founder of Hina +ku Hawaii fragrances and Makalapua Fund, a nonprofit organization that advocates and invests in the Hawai‘i community. Aside from modeling for Sports Illustrated and Victoria’s Secret, Mariano has minor acting credits that include “The Audition,” “Skyfall” and “Chuck.”

Ventimiglia previously spoke out about keeping his personal life private; he previously dated “Gilmore Girls” co-star Alexis Bledel and “Heroes” co-star Hayden Panettiere.

Mariah Carey rings in the Holiday Season with short clip announcing ‘It’s Time!’

shutterstock_2375001727691285

Mariah Carey, the self-proclaimed ‘Queen of Christmas,’ has announced that it is officially the holiday season in a new video proclaiming, “It’s Time!”

The clip, posted on social media along with the caption ‘It’s…… TIME!!! 🎃🧊🎄 #MariahSZN’, shows a clock counting down the seconds until midnight on Halloween. As soon as the clock strikes midnight, a vault opens to reveal Carey frozen in a block of ice. People sporting Halloween costumes start using hairdryers to melt the ice to set Carey free, and as she emerges, the singer exclaims, “It’s time!” The video ends with Carey and her children Moroccan and Monroe running into the frame to hug and dance around with their mother to her smash holiday hit song, “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” as snow falls.

Carey revealed earlier in October that she will be launching a small holiday-themed tour — ‘The Merry Christmas One and All Tour’ will kick off on November 15th in Highland California and will conclude on December 17th at New York’s Madison Square Garden, with two new dates in Cleveland and New York. Check out the Merry Christmas One and All tour dates at the social media link: here.

GOVERNOR WALZ ANNOUNCES INCREASED PAYMENT RATES FOR CHILDCARE ASSISTANCE

governor-tim-walz-e1609807123398902231

Governor Walz announced that increased payment rates for child care assistance take effect this week, as Minnesota continues to move toward making child care accessible to more families.

“Affordable and accessible child care is essential to creating opportunity and economic growth across the state,” said Governor Walz. “We’re raising child care assistance rates to support providers and improve access for more families. This is an investment in our workforce, economy, and the well-being of families.”

Higher reimbursement rates will bring state payments closer to market rates for childcare providers serving over 11,000 families, including 23,000 children, through the Child Care Assistance Program. The increase will help stabilize providers’ finances and improve access to affordable child care for families.

Governor Walz and the Legislature approved the new childcare assistance rates earlier this year, including $146 million in funding over the next two years. The change was part of a $1.3 billion child care package that also included payments to improve compensation for childcare providers and funding to reduce wait lists for another type of child care assistance known as Basic Sliding Fee.

“Families should be able to get child care when they need it,” said Human Services Commissioner Jodi Harpstead. “It’s so important to their well-being and to our entire economy. The new child care assistance rates will help providers cover basic expenses that allow them to offer quality care.”

The Child Care Assistance Program provides financial assistance for child care to families with low incomes. When rates are low, childcare providers are less likely to serve families in the program, and access to childcare suffers in an already tight market. Low rates also make it harder for providers who participate in the program to cover their costs.

The program’s rates are based on a grid that includes the county, the type of child care, and the child’s age group. When the rate increase takes effect, maximum rates in the grid will increase to match the 75th percentile of market rates, as measured by a 2021 survey of childcare rates. The state will adjust the rates every three years to reflect market rates, beginning in January 2025.

Governor Tim Walz

MNDOT REMINDS THE PUBLIC IT’S ILLEGAL TO DEPOSIT SNOW ON STREETS AND HIGHWAYS

mndotlogo992319

The Minnesota Department of Transportation would like to remind the public it is illegal to deposit snow on or next to a public highway or street and asks for help keeping roads clear for everyone’s safety. Snow on or near public roads can create hazards such as drainage, drifting and sight obstruction.

Minnesota law and many local ordinances prohibit the plowing, blowing, shoveling or otherwise placing of snow onto public roads or sidewalks. This includes the ditch and right-of-way area along the roads. Violations are considered misdemeanors, but civil penalties also apply if the placement of snow creates a hazard, such as a slippery area, frozen rut or bump, that contributes to a motor vehicle or pedestrian crash. The civil liability can extend to both the property owner and the person who placed the snow.

District 2 MnDOT maintenance crews plow and maintain more than 3,900 miles of state highways in northwest Minnesota. Crews are out around the clock during snow events to keep roads safe, so please give them plenty of space to work. Remember, it takes time to clean up the roadways during and after a snowstorm.
For tips on safe winter driving, visit www.mndot.gov/workzone/winter.html.

Dale William Van Horn – OBIT

dale-van-horn449929

Dale William Van Horn, 86, a lifelong Crookston, MN resident, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, October 29, 2023.

Dale was born on September 22, 1937 in Crookston to Frank and Anna (DeBoer) Van Horn. While growing up on the family farm he began his education at the Franklin Elementary School before attending Central High School. He then enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard serving from 1956 to 1962. Dale was united in marriage to Norma Hazel Bakken on October 20, 1956 in the Fridhem Lutheran Church, Lengby, MN. She was the love of Dale’s life for 67 years and their marriage would soon be blessed by the births of daughter, Julie Ann, and son, Jeffrey. Very sadly, Julie Ann, died accidentally on July 2, 1977. Since that tragic day Dale kept her memory foremost in his heart.

After their marriage, Dale farmed for several years near Crookston. He then took ownership of Crookston Auto Wrecking, and worked for Spring Gravel. Dale would later work independently as the owner of his own gravel truck and closed out his working career with Salem Motors.

Dale and Norma loved to travel, they enjoyed many winters in Lake Havasu in Arizona with their many friends.  They also enjoyed Sunday drives that would last for hours, often inviting friends to join them. For most of those drives Dale enjoyed having Norma as the navigator, which sometimes led to a few unplanned detours.  Dale also enjoyed making his daily rounds about town, and people person that he was, visiting with everyone.  Strangers simply became new friends.  Among those friends were those from the Crookston Eagles Aerie 873, where Dale was a longtime member.  In 2001, Dale was baptized into the Christian faith at Trinity Point, and then became a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Crookston.  Dale was known for his sense of humor, and his cane.  He loved to walk around “Cane-ing” as he called it.

Family was the most important part of Dale’s life. He treasured the time he and Norma had together, and the pride they shared for their son, Jeff, and his wife, Jody. Having grandsons, Jeric and Jake, in their lives was pure joy.

Dale’s memory will be forever cherished by his soulmate, Norma; their son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Jody Van Horn of Park Rapids, MN; grandsons, Jeric Van Horn of Detroit Lakes, MN and Jake Van Horn of Grand Rapids, MN; Niece, Sandra Stalemo, and many nieces and nephews on Norma’s side of the family; his fur baby, Jack the cat; and extended family. In addition to his beloved daughter, Julie Ann, extreme sadness once again came with the passing of Jake’s wife, Gretta Lynn (Hjelseth) Van Horn, who passed away after a lengthy illness on April 20, 2022. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anna Van Horn; brother, Willard (Shirley) Van Horn; brothers-in-law:  Lloyd (Mildred) Bakken, Harvey Bakken, and Dick (Sue) Bakken; and parents-in-law, Lawrence and Hilda Bakken.

The Memorial Service honoring Dale’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Crookston, with The Rev. Greg Isaacson, officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service and burial will take place in the Oakdale Cemetery. The services will be livestreamed by going to Dale’s obituary page at www.stenshoelhouske.com to view and where messages of condolence may also be left.
