Giving Hearts Day 2025 was a massive success for many nonprofits. The RiverView Foundation considers Giving Hearts Day the gift that keeps on giving as the donations have continued since the February 13 online fundraiser. “At the end of that day, we brought in 293 gifts totaling $179,477 to enhance care at RiverView Health,” says Foundation Director Randy Schoenborn. “We have had record-breaking years in the last three years of what we bring in on Giving Hearts Day for the projects we are raising money for.” Since February 13, the RiverView Foundation has received move donations that brought their total to $182,000.
Schoenborn says it is amazing to see how people participate and how excited they get about Giving Hearts Day. “People are so excited about being a part of something,” says Schoenborn. “I have people before the event; how much have you raised for a match, and people after the event, do you have your totals yet that you raised that day?”
Schoenborn explained that this year, as with the last three years, RiverView Foundation has received a bonus for being among the top five in raising funds for the Small Budget Division. This year, RiverView Foundation placed second overall in their division. “We received an $8,000 bonus this year that pushed us over $190,000,” said Schoenborn. “In the last three years, we have gotten $26,000 in bonuses because of the support of our community, not only in Crookston but our surrounding communities.”
Schoenborn says the bonuses are made possible by donors and their generosity. Every year, they aim to raise money for a specific project, so all undesignated funds from Giving Hearts Day are put towards that project. “Every year, it is a different project, and this year, all the undesignated funds will replace RiverViews IV System,” says Schoenborn. “It was purchased in 2015 and is utilized in every area. It is outdated and must be replaced in the next few years. So, we decided that Giving Hearts Day would go to that particular fund.”
Schoenborn says that everyone gets really excited about Giving Hearts Day, and he is constantly amazed by the donors who help to make a difference for RiverView. “Every year, we get really excited and very proud of our donors and how they support us,” says Schoenborn. “But also, of what we at RiverView Health do for the community.”
According to the Dakota Medical Foundation, 619 North Dakota and NW Minnesota nonprofits raised $31 million through 40,210 donors this year. Since the event’s inception in 2008, charities have raised over $225 million. Schoenborn wants to thank all donors, new and continued. “Thanks everyone for your support. Every year, it amazes me how much support we get from people.”
Of course, donations are accepted throughout the year. If you want to donate to this year’s project, contact Schoenborn at the foundation office at 218-281-9249.
