Marvin Donald Luck – OBIT

Marvin Donald Luck of Oak Grove, Minnesota passed away in hospice on March 7, 2025 at the age of 88 with family by his side. 

Born January 3, 1937, to Albert and Margaret Luck of Adrian, North Dakota, the youngest of 12 children.
He grew up in the Adrian and Dickey, North Dakota area and graduated high school from Dickey. 

On Feb. 20 1959 Marvin married Joan Ann McCommon and together they had one child, Marvin Donald Jr. 

Marvin resided in Lamoure, ND working at Lamoure Lumber until moving to Ellendale, ND to work for Robertson Lumber Co. He later moved his family to Crookston, MN to manage Robertson Lumber. Marvin took employment with Fert-L-Flow (Terra) as an agricultural fertilizer applicator. After retiring from Terra he worked for the Crookston public school system as a school bus driver until fully retiring. 

Marvin resided in Crookston for 62 years and was very involved in the local community. He was a past member of the Jaycee’s, long time Eagles club member as well as serving as a volunteer fireman for 25 years. Marvin was an excellent carpenter and did many projects for those in the community. Marvin left Crookston in 2022 to reside closer to family.

Marvin enjoyed RV camping and traveled to many locations across the country over the years. Eventually he and Joan took a seasonal RV site on Lake Ashtabula near Valley City, ND where they spent their summers. 

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and all his siblings. He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Joan; son Donald (Julie) of Ramsey, MN; and grandchildren Andrea Holste (Brad); Brenna Luck (Jason); and Chad Luck; and great grandchildren Scarlett, Lucy, Bennett and Lincoln; and many nieces and nephews. 

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
