Crookston City Council will meet on Monday, May 19, at City Hall in the Council Chambers at 5:30 p.m.
The meeting will start out with a Mayoral Proclamation declaring May 2025 Community Action Month in recognition of the hard work and dedication of the Tri-Valley Opportunity Council, Inc., as well as all Minnesota Community Action agencies. There will also be a presentation given by Three Rivers Housing regarding 102 North Broadway Reuse Analysis.
The consent agenda contains approval of the proposed City Council Minutes from May 5, 2025, approval of City of Crookston Bills and Disbursement for $600,735.84, approval of the license renewals for 2025 Cement Mason for Palmer Masonry and Concrete, and the acceptance of a donation for the Crookston Sports Center in the amount of $53,739.75 from The Crookston Area Community Fund for new turf at the Crookston Sports Center.
Next on the agenda is a public hearing on “Regulations of Cannabis Businesses” in the City of Crookston. Residents will have an opportunity to speak any opinions or concerns they may have on the subject.
There are three items on the regular agenda for Monday’s meeting. The first is regarding the approval of the non-commercial hangar lot lease for RZS Enterprises, Inc. at the Crookston Municipal Airport. City Council approved the template for the lease at their last meeting and the Airport Commission recently met and approved of a the lease for RZS Enterprises, Inc., and is seeking the council’s approval.
The second item is seeking approval for Total Lawn Care and Landscaping, an independent contractor, to take care of Crookston’s nuisance mowing. This contract went out for bid with Total Lawn Care and Landscaping being the only proposal received. The proposal is for an hourly amount of $47.00 per person and is for one year’s services. Total Lawn Care and Landscaping will provide the City with dated, digital photos of the properties, identified by address, before and after mowing. They will also provide invoices to the city for each property mowed and a copy of Liability Insurance.
The last item on Monday’s agenda is for approval of Parks and Recreation to repair the cooling tower at the Crookston Sports Center. There is a cooling tower at the Crookston Sports Center that has a significant leak. There are enough budgeted funds in the Arena Repairs and Equipment fund account to repair the cooling towers. The City of Crookston was quoted $13,630.00 to repair the cooling tower.
There will be a Ways and Means Committee Meeting immediately following City Council adjournment. The agenda for Ways & Means is to interview for the Council Member at Large position that was left vacant by the resignation of Tim Menard. There are eight candidates that will be interviewing. Rennae Ramsey, Brandon Lee, Gina Corneillie, Josheph Shostell, James Hobbs, Bishop Jensen, Wendy Ault and Matt Rosu.
