Credit Recovery Summer School
The board approved the credit recovery summer school. The program allows students who made an honest effort during the school year but came up short to get a passing grade. “It is similar to what we have done in the past, and we have a couple of teachers who work with students we have invited. Letters were sent home to parents for those who were semi-credit deficient, meaning they were a couple of classes behind,” said Crookston High School Principal Matt Torgerson. “For students who are more than that, they remain in that grade level. If you’re a ninth grader who failed a lot of classes, you stay a ninth grader next year. For a ninth grader who didn’t do well in one course, we can try to catch up with summer school.”
The school district sent a letter in the mail to the kids who were eligible
. “It takes place in June for three and a half weeks and if students work hard they can make up to two classes,” said Principal Torgerson.

The board approved an agreement with Jill Carlson, as a school psychologist at $135 per hour and they approved the literacy plan for the district.

The next regular school board meeting will be Monday, June 23 at 5:00 p.m. in the Crookston High School Choir/Orchestra room.
