A single and two walks loaded the bases, and Alyssa Carr would follow that with a walk to score the first run of the game, making it 1-0. Then, Lilly Parker would drive in two with a single to left to make it 3-0, and a wild pitch on the very next pitch made it 4-0 Wolverines. Wagner would then get a popout to end the inning.
SECOND INNING-
Crookston got a one-out single from Peyton Demerais in the 2nd inning, but Brea Lessard would ground into a 4-3 double play to end the inning.
In the home half, the Wolverines ran away with, as they piled run after run. After back-to-back walks started the inning, an error would score those runs, making it 6-0. After a strikeout, a sac fly would make it 7-0. The rest of the offense would be fueled by walks, as six straight walks would score three runs, making it 10-0 Wolverines. After a pitching change, Jada Dykhoff drove in two to make it 12-0, and an error after that would score the final two runs, meaning that the Wolverines would take a 14-0 lead into the 3rd inning.
THIRD INNING –
After a leadoff single by Shyuh Burnette, two strikeouts and a groundout would quickly end the inning for the Pirates.

Kambelle Freije would drive a run in with a single to make it 14-1, and then Madi Bruggeman would then come home on a successful delayed steal to cut the lead to 14-2. Crookston would go down quietly to end the inning.
