Crookston School Board to interview two superintendent candidates

The Crookston School Board offered interviews to three finalists and two accepted interviews on Monday, July 14.

The interviews will start at 10:00 a.m. with Randy Bruer, and the second interview will be at 1:00 p.m. with Doug Van Zyl. The interviews will be in the Crookston High School Choir/Orchestra room.

Randy Bruer –
Bruer was the Superintendent at Win-E-Mac for 13 years before retiring in the summer of 2024. Before Win-E-Mac, Bruer was Superintendent at Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton School District for three years and at Fisher School District as Principal and Superintendent for over 14 years before that. He started his teaching career at DGF in 1979.

Doug Van Zyl –
Dr. Doug Van Zyl has worked in public education for over
30 years. He was Superintendent at Lakeville School District in Minnesota for two years, from 2022 to 2024, before resigning. He was Superintendent at St. Joseph District in Missouri from 2018 to 2022. He has also been superintendent at Fort Dodge Community Schools in Iowa and superintendent and assistant superintendent of Harrisonville Schools in Missouri.
He was also a principal and third-grade teacher in Texas.
