Crookston School Board offers Superintendent job, waiting for response

The Crookston Public School Board had a Special Meeting on Monday, July 14, at 10:00 a.m. at the High School in the Choir/Orchestra room. The meeting was scheduled to hold interviews with the two Superintendent candidates who accepted the invitation to interview.

Randy Bruer, whose most recent position at Win-E-Mac, retired following 13 years there in 2024, interviewed at 10:00 a.m.

Doug Van Zyl’s most recent position was with the Lakeville School District, where he resigned after two years in 2024.

School Board Chairman Tim Dufault says the interviews went very well, and they had two very strong candidates to choose from. “We brought in two candidates that we had selected last Monday, both great candidates. Well, we wouldn’t have brought them in if they weren’t going to be a good fit for the school district,” says Dufault. “One shown brighter than the other. Been in contact with that one and we’re going to get together and discuss this position in detail a little more tomorrow.”

The offer is out there and Dufault says that they will know soon if it has been accepted and we will know if we have a new Crookston Public Schools Superintendent.
