Highland School PTO hosting a School Supply Drive

The Highland School PTO is hosting a school supply drive again this year to prepare students to start school with the supplies they need and to help teachers replenish classroom supplies throughout the upcoming school year.

There are many school supplies needed, and it is to help the students have the necessary school supplies. “At the start of the school year, we have many needs for the kids. We need dry-erase markers, glue sticks, pencils, folders, all of those things, and they need them all. And it’s not just in August when they need them. They do a lot of work all year in those classrooms,” said Marianne Isaacs, PTO Secretary. “So this is a supply drive that will help replenish those supplies for the teachers throughout the school year.”

You can donate in several ways. “There are boxes located at the Highland office,” said Marge Koepsell, PTO Treasurer. “They will be available on August 27 at the Highland Elementary office starting at 8 a.m. and throughout the day.”
Isaacs added, “They’re welcome to donate money by writing a check out to Highland PTO. Then we will do the shopping as needed. But just know that even things like hand sanitizer, Kleenex, and Ziploc bags are all needed throughout the school year.”

Items that can be donated are listed below-

– Dry-erase markers
– Glue Bottles and sticks
– Pencils and Highlighters
– Rulers and scissors (student-sized)
– Markers and Crayons
– Post-it notes and index cards
– Folders and notebooks (wide-ruled)
– Binders and filler paper
– Hand sanitizer, Kleenex, and Ziploc bags

“Because we get kids who come in throughout the school year that need all those supplies,” said Isaacs. “So we greatly appreciate all of the donations and the teachers and the support staff at the school. They’ll organize it for the kids and for the families who need it.”

You can stop by the Highland School Office to donate items, bring a check by the office, or mail it to Highland School PTO, 801 Central Avenue North, Crookston, MN – 56716. If you have any questions, call 218-281-5600.

Meet the Teacher Day will be on Wednesday, August 27, at Highland School.
