The Crookston Pirate Girls Tennis team swept the singles matches on their way to a 5-2 victory over the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines in a Section 8A match played in Detroit Lakes.
CROOKSTON VS Wadena-Deer Creek –
Crookston’s Emma LaPlante won the first singles match with a 6-2 first set win and won a battle in the second set by a 7-6 score and winning the tie-breaker 7-2 to win in straight sets.
The second singles match was a quick one as Crookston’s Emelia Hoerner cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
At third singles, eighth grader Lauren Tull pulled away for a 6-3, 6-1 victory. The fourth singles match was won by the Pirates’ Grace Boll who cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
The lone doubles victory was at third doubles with Lucy Smith and Madelyn Anderson with an impressive 6-3, 6-1 victory to give the Pirates a 5-2 victory. Crookston’s second doubles team of Chloe Boll and Logan Brekken lost the first set 6-1, bounced back to win the second set 6-4. In a super tie-breaker the Wadena-Deer Creek duo won 10-3 to win the match.
Crookston improves to 3-2 on the year and will play three matches on Saturday at the Alexandria quadrangular
