Crookston School District sees an increase of 30 students from the end of last school year

The Crookston School District’s enrollment numbers are increasing this year, with an average of 83 students per grade at Highland School and an average of 83 students per grade at the High School. There are 503 students at Highland School (K-5) and 587 students at the high school (7-12), which is an increase of 30 students from the end of last school year. “That is a positive statement. You know, that always helps your bottom line, and your revenue goes up with more students,” said Interim Superintendent Randy Bruer. “So we saw that we were probably going to be 30-plus students up for this school year, and I would say that’s not counting the preschool or kindergarten classes either. So it’s nice to see an increase like that in our enrollment.”

The increased enrollment will help the district financially. “We’ve been gradually seeing a fund balance that’s dropping on us,” said Interim Superintendent Bruer. “That’s going to help that fund balance to kind of maintain and be sufficient for future years.”
