The Crookston Pirate Girls Tennis team had three first-place finishes and tied for second at the Northwest Quad tournament in Crookston. Thief River Falls won the tournament with 17 points, while Crookston and East Grand Forks tied for second place with 12 points for the second straight year. Crookston had three champions with Ava Martin at third singles, Lauren Tull at fourth singles, and the first doubles team of Chloe Boll and Logan Brekken.

CHAMPIONS –
Ava Martin won all three of her matches at third singles. She beat Zoey Spradlin of East Grand Forks in three sets. Ava lost the first set 6-4 before bouncing back to win the second set 6-4, forcing a third set. Ava outlasted her opponent and won the third set 10-3. In the second match, she beat Lily Graftstrom of Moorhead 6-0, 6-2. Ava also cruised to a convincing 6-0, 6-0 to win the championship.
Lauren Tull continued her dominating play as she won all three of her fourth singles matches and sh made quick work of all three. Tull beat Lola Bina of East Grand Forks 6-2, 6-1. She beat Lauren Palmer of Moorhead 6-2, 6-2, and beat Ava Neibuhr of Thief River Falls 6-0, 6-3 to earn the championship.
The first doubles team of Chloe Boll and Logan Brekken finished in a three-way tie for third place in a talented first doubles division. The Pirates beat East Grand Forks’ Morgan McDonald, Chloe Svendsen 6-0, 6-2. They also made quick work of Moorhead’s Wylie Nordin and Kinzey Linn 6-2, 6-0. The Pirate duo lost to Thief River Falls’ Raya Dahlin and Sam Rodahl 6-4, 7-5. EGF and TRF’s teams also won two matches, making it a three-way tie for first place.
Crookston will host Moorhead on Thursday.
