The Crookston Pirate Girls Tennis team played a great match and won a big 5-2 victory over the East Grand Forks Green Wave to wrap up the regular season in a dual at East Grand Forks.

The Crookston Pirate Girls Tennis team won three singles and two doubles matches to beat the East Grand Forks Green Wave 5-2.
The second, third, and fourth singles picked up wins for Crookston, with Emelia Hoerner having a convincing win with a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Ava Martin continued her solid play as she beat the Green Wave’s Lola Bina 6-0 in the first set and then 6-4 in the second set. At fourth singles, Lauren Tull coasted to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over EGF’s Kinley Peterson 6-0, 6-0 to pick up the three singles win. At first singles, Emma LaPlante lost to one of the top singles players in the state in a 6-2, 6-0 loss to Ruby Leach.
In doubles, the first doubles team of Chloe Boll and Logan Brekken won a battle over EGF’s Addisyn Spradlin and Morgan McDonald in three sets. The Pirates won the first set 6-3, before losing the second set 6-3. The third set was a dandy as Boll and Brekken won a nailbiter 11-9 to get the win. The other doubles victory came at third doubles, with Lucy Smith and Taylor Schulz playing a solid match to win 6-2, 6-3.
Crookston ends the regular season with a 10-7 on the year and will likely be the #3 seed in the Section 8A girls tennis tournament. The first round will be played on Thursday, October 10 at Courts Plus in Fargo, North Dakota.
