Several crafting events are scheduled at the Fertile Public Library, as well as additional programs that entertain and inform community members.
A Needle Felting Class is scheduled Tuesday, September 30 from 1-3 p.m., suitable for all experience levels with materials provided. On Wednesday, October 1 from 3:30-6:30 p.m., crafters are invited to learn how to create their own tintype photos, specimen slide, fake leather and aged cello tape for “faux-vintage” junk journaling, card-making and scrapbooking projects.
On Friday, October 3, the band Project : Constellation will offer a free performance of Scandinavian music featuring Norwegian and Swedish songs sung in their original languages at 2:30 p.m. On Wednesday, October 8 at 1 p.m., The Ultimate Minnesota Cookie Book author Lee Svitak Dean will present about her latest project, a book called Kitchens of Hope. Bringing readers on a culinary journey around the globe, Kitchens of Hope features recipes and stories of immigrants from more than thirty countries and celebrates cuisines from all around the world. These programs are made possible thanks in part to funding from the Minnesota Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund.
A weekly Storytime, geared for youth ages 3-6, is held Fridays at 10:30 a.m., exploring different themes with stories, songs, rhymes, flannel boards, special guests and more! All events are offered free-of-charge and a full calendar can be found at larl.org/events.
