In 2021, Minnesota joined a nationwide opioid settlement, directing funds to combat the opioid crisis and strengthen prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm-reduction efforts across the state. Polk County receives a portion of these funds and has established the Opioid Settlement Advisory Council to determine how they can be used most effectively in our local community to create the greatest impact.
In partnership with the Advisory Council, Polk County will release a second Request for Proposals (RFP) to support opioid epidemic response strategies, including prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction. The goal is to fund projects in Polk County that will have a high impact, particularly for Polk County communities most disproportionately impacted by the opioid crisis.
Multiple applicants may be selected to receive funding. Through this process, individual projects may receive up to $100,000, with a total funding pool of up to $500,000. Funds are to be used from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026.
