The Fertile Public Library’s Resolute Readers Book Club will meet this month to discuss Behind the Beautiful Forevers by Katherine Boo.
The book chronicles the lives of residents in Annawadi, a slum near the Mumbai airport, offering an intimate portrait of poverty, inequality, and resilience in modern India. The group will meet on Wednesday, October 15 at 4 p.m. at the Fertile Public Library, located at 101 Mill St. S. All are welcome.
The following day, the library will host an Author Visit by Janet Preus. Preus is the author of The Thirteenth Crime, which is set in 1887’s Ottertail County and details the true events surrounding the death of Lillie Field. The Author Visit is scheduled Thursday, October 16 at 10:30 a.m. and is offered free-of-charge, thanks in part to funding from the Minnesota Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund.
