The United Way of Crookston’s Chili and Soup Cook Off was held on Tuesday evening with nine contestants.
The Irishman’s Shanty, Wonderful Life Foods, Eagle’s Wing, LMB Pumpkin Patch, REM, Benedictine Living Community, Georgia Belter, Golden Link Senior Center, and Polk County DAC all participated in the cook-off.
AWARD WINNERS –
People’s Choice Chili – REM (Best in Town Chili)
People’s Choice Soup – Benedictine Living Community-Crookston (Scare Corn Chowder)
Dessert/bars – Wonderful Life Foods Pumpkin Cream Cheese Bars (won by one vote)
United Way of Crookston Executive Director Libby Boucher wanted to thank all the contestants. “Newcomers LMB Pumpkin Patch and Georgia Belter showed strong with two squash-based chilis and an amazing Dill Pickle soup. The Shanty surprised everyone with a last-minute Creamy Chicken Noodle soup entry that became a dark horse write-in contender (we think it should go on their menu!) Golden Link made Booya (a beloved soup experience from my childhood) a delicious addition to the mix, Polk County DAC’s Fantastic Fall Bars were chewy and wonderful. Eagle’s Wing came through with a Hotter Than Texas Chili that kicked the spice up a notch or two,” said Boucher, who added, “We can’t thank our participants, our board and our community enough for their continued support of this wonderful event.”
