Climax Bridge ribbon cutting held on Saturday

A ribbon cutting was held at the Climax Bridge on Saturday, October 25, to celebrate the opening of the newly constructed bridge. 45 people attended the ceremony.

The Climax Bridge is 904 feet long and 80.09 feet above the bottom of the footing in the center, and approximately 60 feet above normal water elevation. The bridge cost $16,831,006.75 to build with 1,338.1 cubic yards of concrete for the substructures and 941.8 cubic yards for the bridge deck. 398,532 pounds of rebar, approximately 1,028,020 pounds of steel, and 8,352 bolts were used to construct the bridge.

Funding came from Federal Aid, Minnesota State aid, and Trail and Polk Counties. The project started in November of 2023 with tree removal, and the bridge was open for traffic on October 17, 2025.
