Crookston City Council to meet on Monday (11-3-25)

The Crookston City Council will meet on Monday, November 3 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall in the Crookston City Council Chambers.

The meeting will start with a presentation regarding the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities from Marty Seifert.

The consent agenda includes the approval of the meeting minutes from October 20. The council will be asked to approve the bills and disbursements in the amount of $620,729.32 and a donation of $26,907 from the Crookston Baseball Association for more stadium seating at Jim Karn Field. The council will also call for a public hearing to assess the City of Crookston for 2025, and MnDOT Municipal consent for State Project 6002-76. The final item on the consent agenda is a resolution regarding the state Minnesota Airport fund agreement for the Crookston Municipal Airport Fund agreement for the airport’s five-unit hangar. 

The regular agenda includes the approval to submit a Small Cities Development Grant application for $600,000 to assist with the City’s portion of the main water replacement with the Highway 2 Corridor Improvement project, the second and final reading of the ordinance amending the City of Crookston zoning ordinance allowing slaughterhouses in the heavy industrial zone. 

The council will have a discussion on the non-profit grants for 2026.  The following Non-Profit Grant requests are for the council’s consideration. Total money requested is $168,700. The Golden Link Senior Center has requested $97,000, Care and Share for $20,000, Tri-Valley Transportation at $17,000, Alluma Foundation of $10,700, Scruffy Tails Humane Society at $8,000, Ox Cart Days for $6,000, Linus’ Legacy of $5,000, and the Downtown Crookston Development Partnership for $5,000. The final item on the regular agenda is a discussion regarding reviewing the semi-finalists for the Crookston City Administrator position.

The Crookston Ways and Means will meet after the city council meeting and will discuss two items on the agenda: cannabis and the budget.
