Crookston Pirate Dance team opens season at Brainerd competition

The Crookston Pirates Dance Team competed in its first competition of the season this Saturday in Brainerd. The Pirates battled a bout of sickness and a lack of practice, but were able to compete and get the first competition of the season in. “The week leading up to the competition was anything but ideal. The kids were getting sick and hadn’t practiced all together until Saturday,” said Coach Grace Espinosa. “We are so proud of their resilience and teamwork from this first competition.”
Members of the team are Abigail Bruley, Avery Trudeau, Isley Machado, Hayley Leckie, Zac Plante, Hadleigh Bruley, Mady Knutson, Morgyn Larson, and Miya Labelle. The team is coached by Grace Espinosa, Kalea Luckow, Quinn Siegle.
The Pirates’ next competition will be on Thursday, December 4, in Wadena.
