Over 130 attend Crookston ECFE Grandparent Night

Energy and joy were abundant at Washington School on Monday night as the annual ECFE Grandparent Night took place.  Over 130 children and grandparents attended and explored the School Readiness classrooms and gym.

Every moment for a young child is a learning opportunity, and what better way to do this than with their grandparents?  “We know that children flourish with supportive relationships and by bringing together early childhood educators, children, and grandparents,” said ECFE’s Gina Gunderson. “We were able to provide many opportunities for play, exploration and connection to take place.”

Children were able to play with Magna-Tiles and create magnificent structures, develop their fine motor skills with GeoBoards and Play-Doh, investigate with science experiments, learn math concepts by playing dice games, explore art with paint sticks, and move their bodies in the gym with an obstacle course and parachute play.  Older children were able to take a set of dice home to play games and infants and toddlers chose a board book to continue making memories together.  “We ended the evening by gathering in the gym and singing a song and reading a story about grandparents,” said Gunderson. “They give lots and lots of love!”
