Crookston Pirate Clay Target team hands out awards after the fall season

The Crookston Clay Target Team recently held its awards banquet, during which it presented several awards.  The awards handed out were:

5-Stand Discipline
Top Gun (Season Average) – Garrett Wilkens (13.00)
Most Improved (Average Change) – Elijah Hoppe (3.00)

“Since this was our first season for 5-Stand, they were all rookies.  We also did not have any letter winners for this season, but we have a few who could do it next season,” said Coach Randy Prudhomme. “They all did great, trying a new sport, and all improved as the season went on.  To emphasize how much more difficult 5-stand is compared to trap, we can look at how many times someone shot 50 or 25 in a row.”

In trap, there were 104 times that someone shot 50 in a row and 807 times that someone shot 25 in a row in the state.  In the 5-stand, there was only one time that someone shot 50 in a row, and only five times someone shot 25 in a row in the state.

For Trap Discipline
Top Gun Overall (Season Average) – Jyade Uttermark (21.50)
Top Gun Female (Season Average) – Jayde Uttermark (21.50)
Top Gun Male (Season Average) – Austin Thode (20.20)
Rookie of the Year (Season Average) – Parker Broten (13.50)
Most Improved (Average Change) – Garrett Guzman (2.70)

Letter winners are: Jayde Uttermark, Austin Thode, Garrett Wilkens, Evan Boucher

Jayde Uttermark was also Top Gun Female in the conference, and she received a medal from the USA Clay Target League.  Our four letter winners were all in the top 25 for the conference, with Jayde tied for ninth overall.

“You could tell that all the returning shooters had worked hard in the off-season to improve their scores in Trap.  Almost half of them experienced an average increase of 5 birds or more from the spring to the fall season,” said Coach Prudhomme. “As a team, we increased our average by 3.44 birds compared to this spring season.  I am really proud of what they are doing and how the two new shooters did this fall.”

The spring season will begin with registration opening on February 3, and shooting will start on March 29.
