Timothy (Tim) G. Bolstad, 70, Rural Fertile, MN, was called to heaven on December 25, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.
Tim was born on September 10, 1955, to Knute and Adeline (Oswald) Bolstad. He was baptized and confirmed at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fertile, MN. He attended Fertile-Beltrami High School and graduated in 1974. After high school, Tim worked at Spring Gravel and later had his own trucking business. Tim also worked for Northern Paving Inc. and finished his working career in the pipeline construction field, which allowed him to make friends in several different states.
Tim loved to go to flea markets, antique stores, thrift stores, and auction sales, always loving to nab a good deal. He would never miss a year of the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion if possible. He loved his tractors and appreciated a nice sports car, especially his black Corvette. Tim was a great mechanic who kept his large and eclectic collection of machines in working condition. He loved tilling the land on which he was raised. Another of Tim’s proud achievements was earning his private pilot’s license as a young man.
Tim was often referred to as a walking encyclopedia due to his ability to recall numerous facts on a surprisingly broad array of subjects. Local history was dear to Tim’s heart, as well. He loved sitting on the porch trading humorous stories of local characters of the past, paying homage to life in a small town.
Tim was all about his family and good friends. He loved being with family and helping in any way he could, so things were done the right way – his way. He was a wonderful brother, uncle, and friend. Tim had a loud, hearty laugh, an even bigger heart, and was loved by so many.
In his last days, Tim was strong and brave, worrying more about his family than himself. In Tim’s own words, “It’s been a good life.”
Tim will be deeply missed by his siblings, Keith (Cathy) Bolstad, Karen (Joe) Cyr, Kevin (Deb) Bolstad, and brother-in-law, Ray Cheeseman, all of Fertile, MN; niece, Lori (Jeff) Adams, Fertile, MN; nephews, Jason (Stacy) Bolstad, Albertville, MN, and Josh (Kari) Bolstad, Fertile, MN; 3 grandnephews, Brandon (Nick) Neibauer-Adams, Cody Adams, and Tucker Bolstad; 5 grandnieces, Courtney (Florencio) Mendoza, Elena (Leon) Armbruster, Josie Bolstad, Ella Bolstad, and Brynn Bolstad; one great-great grandnephew, Aaron Mendoza, and numerous cousins, who meant so much to Tim.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Knute and Adeline; and sister, Janis Cheeseman.
