Crookston High School Graduation is Friday, May 23

Crookston High School is getting ready to celebrate its seniors at graduation.  Graduation will take place Friday, May 23, at 7:00 p.m. in the High School Gymnasium.  The days ahead of graduation are a little busy around the high school. “For 6th through 11th grades, it’s just a standard week. For seniors, Monday and Tuesday are full school days,” says Guidance Counselor Tara Klein. “Wednesday is a little different. They have their Senior Fun Day. They come and check in and take care of all last-minute stuff like paying fees, turning in computers, and getting all of that stuff taken care of.”

Senior Fun Day is a long-standing tradition for the graduating class. No matter the weather, it is sure to be a fun day. “They are going to go to Trinity Point, which is on Maple Lake,” says Klein. They will be back around two, and then they will be done. That will be it.”

The seniors do not have to report to school on Thursday, but Friday will be a full day for them. “About 7:30 a.m., there is a Senior/Faculty breakfast, and then right around 8-8:15 a.m., we load the buses,” says Klein. “We will go to Cathedral. The seniors will wear their caps and gowns, and they get to walk Cathedral.  Some of them will visit teachers, and then they will go to Highland, and they will walk through Highland. The kids love it.”

After visiting Cathedral and Highland it’s time to head back to the high school to be recognized by the underclassmen. “They walk the high school, go into the bleachers, and take their last senior photos together as a group,” says Klein. “Then we go through graduation practice. We will work out all of our kinks for that night. They are done as soon as they finish their rehearsal, and they get that fairly good, and then that night they need to be back here about 6:30 p.m.”

There are 82 student candidates for graduation, which Klein says is a really good number. Who will be speaking at the graduation ceremony? “We have three speeches but four speakers,” says Klein. We have Joey Nesseth and Georgia Sanders, who will do a speech together, Grace Smith, who has a speech, and Brandon Colburn.”

Every year, the students choose a teacher to speak at their graduation ceremony. Who did the students choose this year? “This year it’s going to be Tim Moe,” says Klein. The senior class voted, like they do every year, and this year it will be Tim Moe.” Moe currently works in the middle school and previously taught some social studies classes at the high school, and Klein says the students know him well.

Graduation for Crookston High School is Friday, May 24, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. Congratulations to everyone graduating, and best wishes for your journey ahead.
