The Polk County Fair starts on Wednesday, July 9, in Fertile, MN. This year is the 124th year that the fair has been running, and it is one of the largest county fairs in MN. “124th Polk County Fair and right now, the Polk County Fair here in the little town of Fertile is the seventh largest fair in the State of Minnesota,” says Michael Moore, Secretary of the Polk County Fair Board of Directors. “We are expecting to draw about 60,000 people, so it’s a big deal.”
The Polk County Fair has something for everyone, but is really known to be a great family event. “We call this the Family Fun Fair. This is for families primarily, but certainly older folks like myself, we would enjoy it as well,” says Moore. “It’s a family affair; there is no question about it. It’s safe, well-shaded, and has a lot of fun things for kids, teenagers, and little ones. There are lots of things to see, animals, exhibits, rides, and all kinds of fair food. It’s a great place to bring the family.”
For those ready to get on some rides, there are options for getting the most for your money, and with 26 rides to choose from, there are some good deals available. “Rides are very reasonable. You can buy a one-day pass and ride all day long from start to finish for $25,” says Moore. “Of course, you can buy a pass to ride all five days, unlimited, from start to finish, for $75. You just can’t get a deal like this.”
The Polk County Fair kicks off Wednesday, July 9, and runs through the 13th. Admission to the fair is free, and there is something for everyone to do or see once they arrive. If you like music, magic, rides, animals, and more, the Polk County Fair is the place to be.
