The Polk County Museum in Crookston has updated a farmhouse kitchen exhibit to represent a time of transition

A farmhouse kitchen exhibit has been updated at the Polk County Museum in Crookston. The kitchen now represents a time of transition. The oak table and cabinet are painted white to look modern, and the wood stove is streamlined in design. Big changes were around the corner 40 to 50 years ago. Rural electrification made the stove and many utensils obsolete. Electric appliances, running water, and built-in cupboards with counter space made the farm wife’s daily work much more convenient.

The museum, operated by the Polk County Historical Society, is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome. For more information, go to http//http://www.facebook.com/polkhistorical or call 218-281-1038.
