The Celebrate the Young Child Collaborative hosted the Family Festival at Washington School on Tuesday, April 21st, featuring Pete the Cat! The event was geared towards families with children ages birth to age 8 and almost 200 people attended. This event has been taking place for many years and is a great community event for families to connect and see what our community has to offer.
The school was buzzing with excitement and activities. Children were encouraged to stop in the cafeteria for a healthy snack and create a Pete the Cat face with their food. There were many stations that were carefully planned out to provide different areas of development for children including painting, sensory exploration, art, listening to stories, playdough and an obstacle course. The gym was packed with community informational booths and it was a beautiful day so many families also enjoyed the playground.
Thank you to families who attended, the community entities who came with information and giveaways for families, Leo Club volunteers, Crookston Public Schools food Director for ordering food and the Crookston Early Childhood Initiative for funding the cost of the food. Also a big thank you to the CYC Collaborative for organizing and planning the event: RiverView Health, UMC’s Early Childhood Program, Our Savior’s Lutheran School, Crookston Public Library, Polk County Public Health, Tri Valley Head Start, Family Resource Center and Crookston Public Schools Early Childhood Program.
